New Tools for the Investigation of the Electrode Electrolyte Interface in the Domain of Electrochemical Energy Storage Devices
2023. június 5., 15:00-16:00, 0.81
Our increasing dependence on batteries/supercapacitors brings the obligation to make progress in their quality and lifetime without any compromise of reliability and safety. A common challenge, essentially in all existing and future battery/supercapacitor chemistries, is to understanding, to predict, and to control the electrode/electrolyte interfaces. This last decade, we have witnessed the initiation and implementation of powerful techniques run operando (in liquid and under polarization) as baseline diagnostic tools. As an operando coupled electrochemical and piezoelectric probe, electrochemical quartz-crystal microbalance (EQCM) has attracted attention, offering valuable insights into the interfaces of the energy storage devices. We have demonstrated that such an implementation could be very successful, providing that we define the right conditions to deposit exploitable films and design suitable EQCM hardware.
